Acure Organics Rosehip Oil

Face creams are a well-loved, basic and essential part of my skincare routine regardless of the season. But during the colder months, they do take the back seat although never losing presence. Besides having a good cleansing routine and taking care of exfoliation, face oils definitely rule my wintry skincare roost!

I already wrote about the Alverde Wild Rose Oil which smells of roses and is jojoba oil-based. But I have used and tested two more face oils this winter which are truly award-winning material. This Acure Organics Rosehip Oil ($9.34 via iHerb | 30ml) is so, so good that it has been wrestling my former flame and the battle is unresolved. Packaging is very pretty and functional as the pump works like a Swiss clock. Despite the glass being transparent I have read that their particular glass is UV protected and will protect the oil as much as the dark/amber glass would.

I have obviously used rosehip oils from other brands before and although a nice, calming fragrance is definitely a treat – I always aim to find pure rosehip oil as it tends to perform best on my skin. This particular bottle houses organic rosa canina (rosehip) fruit oil and d-alpha-tocopheryl acetate (Vitamin E acetate). Cold-pressed rose fruit seeds (or the hips) make this oil known traditionally as a dry oil due to it’s quick absorption. It’s also known as a balancing oil due to it’s low pH to help protect the skin’s natural acid mantle while delivering essential fatty acids and vitamin E.

It definitely has the best effect on my blemish scars as the reddish ones fade very quickly if I use it as an overnight treatment. I like that my skin doesn’t suck it right in and there’s no hydrating effect yet it isn’t too thick to stay on the skin. It has just the right, pleasant texture which hugs every face curve and it softens dehydration fine lines in a jiffy. I have also used it on my arms, decolletage and end sof my hair and it performs on all beautifully. In addition, it also takes care of calming blemishes, prepping the skin for tomorrow morning when it radiates with health.

The only con might be the way it smells since it’s pure rosehip oil mixed with Vitamin E – to me, it smells like a mix of omega 3 caps and freshly cut grass. It isn’t cute and it fades quickly but not horrendous either but I could see how this wouldn’t be attractive with certain people. If you fancy nice smelling oils, than my recommendation goes for the aforementioned Alverde Wild Rose Oil.

I still don't understand what this product is targeting. Is it a facial moisturizer I can wear out or is it an overnight oil treatment?

    • April 19, 2016 / 11:41 am

I will try to simplify it; usually facial oils are best used as part of a night skincare regime as there is a big chance they will probably melt away most of your makeup (especially if you have oily skin).

This particular Alverde oil can be used during day if you will not wear foundation, maybe some light concealer.
It will not do any harm and if your skin is dry, you will probably enjoy wearing it day and night. Rosehip oil doesn’t protect against sun burn and this is one more reason why it is more suited for night use.

What this oil is targeting is following; it will balance skin (e.g. if you have mixed skin, with dry and oily patches). It will make skin more uniform, it will soften the complexion, lightly fade scars.

I hope I have made things clearer for you and if there are any other questions you may want to ask – I will gladly try to help 🙂

      Regards,

      Selma
