Thayers Alcohol-Free Rose Petal Witch Hazel Toner

I’ve stated before that I prefer the simplest toners – Avene thermal water and rose water are my top picks! I do agree with the opinion that toners aren’t necessary in any skincare routine and I don’t always use them but sometimes I do feel like they round up my routine well and some of them actually do certain things (they’re not useless is what I’m trying to say). Avene thermal water in a spray bottle is my fave way of freshing up my complexion during warmer months and it really calms down the skin, reducing redness. Rose water provides a nice (albeit short term) hydration kick and my fave is the Alverde Wild Rose water.

Apart from those two, I also had the desire to try the wich hazel toner since I’ve read many great things about it (pore tightening action is the most interesting feature!). Thayers Alcohol-Free Rose Petal Witch Hazel Toner ($8.60 | 355ml) is a pretty basic product and will satisfy the practical skincare gal.

It’s a simple toner based on rose water and wich hazel (hamamelis) with the addition of aloe vera. I do appreciate it’s free from alcohol, parabens and phtalates. You get a lot of product for a reasonable price. It’s strongly fragranced – the only possible con for some users. It does smell strongly of roses (Turkish delight kinda vibe) – again, if you’re not fond of that scent, it might be an issue. I use it applied on my cotton pad, after I’ve cleansed my face. You’d think it wouldn’t do anything – until you actually stop with its use. A few days long pause showed me that it actually had an impact on my pores (most intensively around my nose) and redness around my cheeks.

I like that it doesn’t leave a residue on my skin – feeling of clean skin isn’t compromised. In my opinion, it doesn’t deliver extremely visible, high-impact difference but, compared to the majority of tones on the market – I do find it functional.

I’ve ordered it from iHerb website – some may remember I’ve shared my woes regarding shopping via iHerb a while back on my Facebook page. They’ve lost not one but both orders I’ve made. Since the website usually doesn’t offer a refund, I was lucky and was deemed one. With my returned money I’ve repeated my purchase using a friend’s account – this time around I got everything I paid for. You can expect a few more iHerb reviews very soon.

  • Osim spomenutih, imala sam zelju isprobati tonik sa hamamelisom posto sam citala dosta pozitivnih stvari o njemu (suzavanje pora smatram najatraktivnijom karakteristikom).
