Bourjois Cream To Powder Eyeshadow | Pétale de Glace

Maybelline 24h Color Tattoo and Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeshadow Paints are my two favorite drugstore creamy eyeshadows. If I'm not using my Urban Decay Naked/ Naked Basic palettes, I'm probably reaching out for some of the aforementioned eyeshadows. They're amazingly pigmented, creamy but set fast and they're reliable as in – they stay put on my eyelids for the majority of the day. I was intrigued by the cream to powder eyeshadow pots Bourjois pushed onto the market over a year ago. However, swatching them in the drugstore I realized they're rather shimmery and they're not cheap either being priced at approx £9. Despite my interest, I decided to skip them but during all this time, I've been keeping my eye on them. Reading reviews, swatching them on and off – they somehow remained of a beauty interest. That's why I was super excited to test the Bourjois Color Edition 24h Cream To Powder Eyeshadow in Pétale de Glace. I finally got a chance to form a true opinion on these eyeshadows! Bourjois creamy eyeshadows are rather reminiscent of the Maybelline Color Tattoos – but there are differences. Packaging-wise, Maybelline gets bonus points for using glass thus imparting a more luxe vibe of the product. Bourjois all plastic packaging looks visually very similar (clear bottom, black lid, flat pot and all) but to be honest, not too shabby either. When held in each hand, both eyeshadows have certain weight (Bourjois doesn't seem too ‘cheap’ to me).

Bourjois kremaste mono sjene dijele dosta slicnosti sa Maybelline Color Tattoo sjenama – no postoje i razlike.

Neither creamy eyeshadows are heavily scented (a good thing). Texture-wise, Maybelline eyeshadows are more gelish and creamier to the touch whilst Bourjois eyeshadows really do have that cream to powder finish – powdery aspect being more prominent. Personally, I like both textures – they both have something appealing in my eyes. As for the pigmentation, Bourjois eyeshadows seem to have a harmonious pigment/shimmer combo with a more dense shimmer concentration – not necessarily a bad thing (because that was my initial thought). Both eyeshadows, when applied in one thin layer, impart a sheer wash of color and can be built up with additional layers. Maybelline seems to have a slightly better pigmentation and a stark metallic finish (I'm mostly referring to the On and on bronze shade) whilst Bourjois (Pétale de Glace) is a clear combo of pigment and shimmer. Pétale de Glace is the perfect everyday shade – looks very natural with its subtle, gentle rose petal hue (very aptly named). Shimmer here isn't frosty or too obvious, instead it adds interest. I really like this eyeshadow on its own (or as a base for another shadow or a smokey-eye) but I also like to pair it with eyeliner. Longevity is decent (not 24h long) – without an eyeshadow base, I notice slight fading after 4h of wear whilst any decent primer would stretch this to at least 8h on my slightly oily lids. If you're wondering why Bourjois creamy eyeshadow should be on your radar, I'd say that if Maybelline eyeshadows aren't available in wearable colors for your taste (apart from perhaps two or three shades), I'd look for creamy rose, gold, olive or even plum in the Bourjois range. I will be picking up more shades since I'm really pleased and I'd add Bourjois Color Edition 24h Cream To Powder eyeshadows to my top, favorite drugstore eyeshadows – they certainly deserve all the praises!
