Afrodita Cosmetics WHY Face Masks

If you remember my 2015. Beauty Agenda post (here), you know that my Beauty Resolution #7 was to broaden my knowledge and use of face masks. Trying out some pricy face masks still needs to get ticked off the list but I reckon I’m on a good path to fulfill this goal as Afrodita Cosmetics has been a wonderful discovery pot of travel-sized face masks. I remember that even back in 2014. their Hydra Thermal Nutri Active hydrating mask was a revelation which has saved my parched, flaky skin. Now I’ve tried four new types of face masks under their wing and my impressions vary greatly. Maybe you’ll sympathise with me, perhaps you had completely different experience or I may just intrigue you to try something new. Although a brand new, exclusive pot has a particular allure – there really is something extremely convenient about sachets and travel-sized packagings. Personally, I like how I can mix’n’match my face masks, grab two or more different sachets can serve me for over a week yet I get no mess and I also multitask. Something very similar to the Hydra Thermal offering is the Afrodita Cosmetics WHY MASK Extreme moisturising mask (6ml+6ml costs 1,60€) which is paraben, paraffin and silicone free. Enriched with natural hyaluron, natural mineral water, aloe vera, cacao seed butter and other sumptuous ingredients – this is a heaven sent for dehydrated skin! It’s a white-colored mask of a liquidy/creamy consistency and its scent associates me of aqua scents, the sea and generally – water. It’s very, very similar to the Hydra Thermal mask, the latter being a bit more heavy-duty. Neither masks are heavy or oily and both are excellent as night facial treatments because you just massage it onto clean, toned skin, leave it to sink it for approx 10-15 minutes and massage in any remaining residue. My skin eats them up within the 10 minute mark and is truly left extremely supple and soft. Highly recommend!

Topla preporuka!

If you’re trying to amp-up your eye area game but you’re on a tight budget – this is perfection! We all know under-eye area is extremely pricy to maintain – most eye creams cost a fortune (with the exception of the Hydra Thermal eye cream – Afrodita has got us covered!). Obviously not everyone can afford expensive lotions and potions but everyone does deserve to be pampered and this little wonder does just that. Afrodita Cosmetics WHY MASK eye mask (2ml+2ml+2ml costs 1,60€) contains macadamia seed oil, rosehip fruit oil, Cekropia bark extract (boosts circulation) etc. and it’s paraben, paraffin and silicone free. It has a very pretty, neutral scent, peachy coloring and a gel/cream texture. This will also be a repurchase for me because, as you know, I work during night and my eye area is extremely dull and dehydrated. While it may not reduce dark under-eye circles (the bane of my existence) it will hydrate the delicate skin, de-puff slightly and generally freshen up the eye area. Results aren’t dramatic but they’re there and this is such a soothing mask – a pure joy to use! Afrodita Cosmetics WHY MASK 24h lifting mask + peeling (6ml+6ml costs 1,60€) is perhaps the one I felt the happiest with! Now, this is a true multitasker! It can be used as both –  a face mask or a face scrub – combined (massaging and letting it rest) or separately. Enriched with sweet almond oil, hydrolyzed sweet almond protein, allantoin, rosemary leaf extract etc. – it has a white coloring, very beautiful creamy texture and a sumptuous fruity scent. At first, just by observing it, you won’t notice what is performing the exfoliation but as soon as you touch it – you feel tons of micro particles which aren’t harsh at all but they do their job amazingly well. You can apply the mixture as a mask, performing light exfoliation along the way, leave it for 15 minutes to set and rinse – or you can manually exfoliate your skin in circular motiond for 1-2 minutes. Skin is left velvety, soft but a tad tight (not dried, just as someone pinched you – no tingles). I really love it! It’s silicone free but it does contain paraben.

Kozmetika Afrodita WHY MASK maska oko ociju (2ml+2ml+2ml kosta 2,80KM) sadrzi ulje makadamije, vocno ulje sipurka, ekstrakt kore cekropije (poboljsava cirkulaciju) itd.

Unfortunately, I absolutely disliked the Afrodita Cosmetics WHY MASK 4D laser mask (6ml+6ml costs 1,60€) which is free from synthetic colors but does contain paraben. Let us set aside the fact that it’s geared towards wrinkles and I have none. This mask, in theory, should be good. It contains marine collagen, avocado oil (lots of it!), castor oil, microcrystalline wax etc. It’s of a white coloring, it’s extremely thick, it needs to be warmed up to be easily spread over the skin and it has a neutral scent (of face creams). The problem I had with this face mask was its unbelievably thick texture. It actually felt nice and nourishing at first but the problems ensured when I wanted to remove it. Initially, I’ve applied it in a thick coat and it was impossible to remove after the 15 minute mark. I’ve tried just water – didn’t work. The I’ve tried my L’Occitane cleansing oil – failed miserably. This was the point when I started to panic. A thick, gooey substance was covering my face and I couldn’t get it off! I’ve tried a face wash/gel – no change. Finally the plain soap did the trick but my skin felt so raw and dry after the soap that I couldn’t even notice if the mask has actually done any good. If you’re still interested in this face mask, I’d advise using it in extremely thin coats. I won’t be repurchasing it, though, because I really don’t have the time or the inclination to spend 15 more minutues removing the mask and stripping my skin along the way. If you think I was doing something wrong – please share your tips on how to get the best out of this one in the comments section below. I’m a huge fan of the remaining three face masks you see here and I would highly recommend them – just not the black one, mmkay?
