It's (Almost) Sandal Season! Are Your Feet Ready?

The bare thought of sandal season approaching would usually scare the living hell out of me – I think most ladies can agree with me on this one as feet are one of the most neglected parts of our body. Most people just stick on some body butter, put socks on and be done with it. A dedicated foot cream probably doesn't inhabit every home. I feel like I fall into the especially vulnerable demographic as I spend a lot of my time on my feet in general but especially at work so you can already guess that my tootsies aren't necessarily the loveliest sight after a 12h shift is done. My history of foot creams goes back from regular vaseline to the blue Nivea cream, than I've used the Lush Fair Trade Foot Lotion (absolutely adored that one) to finally settle down with the Gena Feet To Go pedicure kit. It's bloody fabulous at keeping my feet smooth and smelling nice. Then this fella came ’round to rumble things up. I've received a small 10ml sample of this foot cream by L'Occitane with one of my purchases. Tried it, couldn't get enough of it and finally owned it. L'Occitane Shea Butter Foot Cream is the chief head if my foot brigade and that's for a reason – it works!

Packaged in a rustic-inspired box, this foot cream has the already recognizable aesthetic – it comes in a vintage toothpaste-like (or old-school shaving cream) aluminum tube. My tube is a 75ml whopper which is rich in nourishing Shea Butter (15%). This cream is also packed with natural soothing ingredients (arnica and lavender essential oil) there to moisturize and relieve irritated and tired feet – it's ideal to save post-winter feet! Its buttery goodness has a certain lightweight quality (texture feels light and moisturizing) and it's not greasy at all yet it feels rich and luxurious. It smooths skin out, makes it super soft and lovely and fragranced in a most natural of ways. That beautiful lavender scent is oh so sleep-inducing which makes this cream perfect after a bath or shower and before heading to bed. Since it contains arnica it also cools and calms tired feet down which is absolutely perfect after an exhausting day. I wouldn't say it would get rid of calluses or absolutely horrid thick, dry skin (try something with urea in that case) but for everything else – it will do the trick! I usually apply a generous amount, spending a few minutes really massaging the product in and it feels great. I don't think I'll have any problems slipping lighter and/or open footwear this season thanks to this lovely fella – highly recommend!
