L'Oreal Colorista

7/27/2017

I'm such a bore when it comes down to hair - but I wasn't always playing it safe. I used to have a pixie, a bob, a lob, all variations of bangs, honey colored hair, chestnut and dark brown (almost black) - and I probably would have ruined it if I continued to experiment, but I'm glad that I did! I got it all out of my system. For the past 7-ish years, I've settled on a simple, straight long hair style. It's practical and easy to manage - no wonder I stuck with it for as long as I have.

However - I have been contemplating an ever so slight change recently. Then this cool package has arrived to my doorstep a few weeks ago and I was truly intrigued by its content - I felt like a little kid! Not the one to do a DIY ombre at home nor will I color my own hair again because I'm simply not that good at it. I will, however, play with one-day-color and that's exactly what I did.

L'Oreal Paris Colorista sprays (£6.99) were so easy to use - you just shake them up and spray wherever you want crazy pops of color. Prior doing so, you protect your skin and clothes with a towel. Don't worry about ruining it because all the color washes out. Turquoise and Hot Pink really were visible on my dark brown hair while the Pastel Blue didn't show up so I'd recommend it to light hair only.

I like how hot pink looks like purple and turquoise like a pretty teal but I didn't like how chalky and matted these sprays made my hair feel like. Very dry and extremely hard to comb through! They feel like emptying two cans of dry shampoo in one go - you can really feel the product on your hair, scalp and hands. You'll need a new hair brush too because there is no way to wash the color out of it.

Hair sort of stiffens with all this product and color flakes off when you touch your hair or try to put it up (flaky color all over the forehead is not what I was going for). Not exactly practical, these sprays. They really are just for a short time thing because it doesn't feel like it would be comfortable to keep them in for longer. They do wash out rather easily and it is the least harmful way to play with hair color. Ideal for festivals and a younger crowd, I found these sprays quite fun!

I was also keen on trying out the L'Oreal Paris Colorista Washout Red Hair because the Pink one surely wouldn't show up (as the case was with the pastel blue spray), but I cannot seem to bring myself to actually wearing bright red on my ends. It would be a cool way to relive the 90s red ombre in a blunt straight line phase but when I finally could do it without much harm to my hair's health - I've come to realization that I don't really like red hair? It's one of those forbidden fruit phrase type of thing - I'm just not into it now that I can have/ do it. Women sure are complicated creatures sometimes! Maybe a new hair cut what would satisfy my need for change?
