Overcome Bloggers Block & Get Writing Again

10/15/2014

I've always been asked (but even more so recently) how do I keep my blog content fresh and how do I manage to post frequently if not daily (or multiple times a day) whilst keeping the content's quality at high levels. In other words - how do I organize myself and my life along with blogging? I strongly believe that everyone should write as much and as frequently as they wish. As a writer, I have certain periods when I feel especially inspired and words flow right through my fingertips and through the keyboard to the blog you are reading. At other times, I cannot find the inspiration, am facing a writer's block or some things/events in life/people make changes in my life so I prioritize. Bottom line - nobody wants to read forced, dull content. I refuse to post anything if I don't feel like I'll give it my all. We also have another issue with blog writers - hyperproduction. With so many blogs out there it's easy to feel as a little fish in a big pond. Sometimes people feel as if their efforts are simply not enough, that certain content is already reworked too many times or that your own best ideas are already used up. What to do then? Let's just say that making priorities and better organization skills certainly help but there is no uniform pattern for all of us to follow. That is why I've decided to make a post containing sharp, short tips on overcoming a writer's block and to fall in love with writing for your blog again - or even, just to remind you why you're so passionate about it. And just to mention it again - there is no wrong or right way to blog. You set up your own rules because (duh!) it is your blog after all. If you're reading this, it's most likely you are running a personal type of blog so it will naturally mimic your own personality. Just be yourself and enjoy what you do - readers pick up on good vibes.

// Take a break // There is no rule that says that you must blog every single day. But there is also no rule that prohibits you from doing so, numerous times a day even. I think that it is rather good to be consistent - only if that consistency doesn't interfere with your every day activities. Driving yourself crazy with when to blog or in which quantities is anything but productive. If you feel that creativity rush is coming - use it! You may create something you'll be very proud of later. However, if you simply are not in the mindset of blogging or have run out of ideas - the world will not end if you skip a day, a week or even a month. If you are concerned will your readers wait for you - there are social platforms, e-mail and rss subscriptions for a reason. // Don't obsess over statistics // I've mentioned it before and I'll mention it again - high numbers don't necessarily equate with quality. So many things are popular these days that I personally cannot relate to but they have a following. There are people like me who are simply interested in different things, not necessarily mainstream. That's a good sign that no matter in which niche does your blog fall into - it will always have a readership/ followship. Your ultimate goal should be outreach to people with similar interests to yours, right? Use that and stop obsessing with stats. They're most definitely not what blogging is about. // Planning posts // Inspiration for this post - blogging organization. In a nutshell, I like to take an hour a week to plan upcoming posts. Sometimes, I can even plan a month ahead but weekly plans are more realistic in my books. I take some time alone when I'm at home, make myself a cup of tea - grab my notebook, calendar and a pen to put everything down. Lists are my best friends - I make lists of everything I want to write about (what to review, regular columns at the blog, guest posts etc.). Than I just fit them all together and I get an outlay of what I can expect my month or week to be about. Once you have a written plan of what's to come, you can take photos accordingly. // Inspiration is everywhere // Sure, having new and old products to write about is the backbone of any beauty blog but not necessarily it's entire agenda. Your budget should never be witholding you from blogging. The most creative posts I made were during my tight budget times. Sometimes new products are a safety net but true advance and improvement doesn't come from a stagnant period - creativity is the leading force! Now, I get that sometimes you're just stuck in a rut or lacking inspiration. Happens to the best of us. Not overthinking things in such situations is the best thing to do. Read any and every content as a reader, not as a blogger. Always make sure you're writing about something you love because if you're not passionate about your blog, your readers will know and soon get bored of it. Same goes for blogging purely because yout think you're going to make a lot of money. If that's the case you'll also soon find out that things don't work that way. For inspiration you can search online or offline. While you're on the net, look up Pinterest, search popular posts on Bloglovin', check out Instagram etc. Something you read might just spark an idea. Don't put pressure on yourself, enjoy some time outside of blogging and soon enough you'll be typing away a whole list of posts. // Consider other topics // One thing I have found in blogging is the more varied the posts are, the more interest they get. If you have a hobby or just another interest besides e.g beauty, why not share that with your readers? If you're passionate about reviews, why not review a movie you watched recently? Are you a bookworm? Write about best reads. Same goes if you're a foodie - good eats are always interesting to find. You really don't know what's popular until you work a few angles and see how they do with the audience. Posting about things other than your main topic can be of much interest and attract wider readership. Enjoy whatever you are doing as being an inspiration to others is the best feeling out there!

Uostalom, oni nisu poenta niti cilj bloganja. // Planiranje postova // Inspiracija ovog clanka - blog i organizacija.
